The W Series is ground-breaking racing series all female race series that launched in October 2018. With 20 of the fastest racers from all over the world competing in an 8 race international series for the top spot, the racing series aims to accelerate the profiles of female racers in the world of high performance racing.
In its first year the series created much controversy after divided opinions from some of motorsports’ leading female personalities on whether the series segregates women in racing or in fact gives them a new platform to promote and push toward women racing at the highest level in racing - F1. But critics have been u-turning after a successful inaugural season that saw the profiles and careers of its racers catapult into the limelight with rumours of its top performers being earmarked for a future seat in F1.
In its second year the series is pulling in some of the heaviest hitters in racing to compete for the top spot and $500,000 prize money. There is also more and more support coming in from across the motorsport world including its integration into 2 of the F1 races for 2020.
Sadly, as with much of 2020, the W Series has so far been put on hold for this year but if this video is anything to go by, whenever everything is back on its feet the W Series is gonna be something very exciting to watch and follow.
