Name: Emma Shoesmith
Organisation: The Curious & Co
What is your role at Curious & Co ?
I suppose you could call me the director or founder. However I like to think of myself more as the connector and organiser.
How did Curious come to be? What was the original idea behind it all?
The Curious & Co is the mother of all passion projects. Think of it as one big creative soup inspired by the many dimensions of my personality and things I’m curious about. Mostly these are things that make you feel great, think differently and ultimately empower you. I believe everyone should have a side hustle and The Curious & Co is mine.
I love to hear stories about how people have turned their hobbies into businesses. My day job as a creative director connects me to so many inspirational people, it just felt like a natural progression to collaborate with them on Curious projects.
Through The Curious workshops, events and one two ones, I hope to inspire and encourage people to engage with their creative side, march to the beat of their own drum and ultimately inspire personal growth.
How long has the Curious been running now?
Almost one year. Next step is to create a podcast with The Curious & Co collaborators.
We love collaborating with amazing female run businesses at CAMP VC! Why did you want to get involved with the event?
I am the ultimate outdoor adventure sports junky, I snowboard, skate, surf and I find my balance in practicing yoga and energy healing. Science says every action has a reaction and the more I grow and learn about myself the more I discover that my body needs a healthy dose of both activity and rest. This is what I aim to provide at Camp VC, we are the antidote to the adrenalin.
Another reason I was stoked to be asked to join Camp VC is I actually come from quite a bike orientated family. My uncle rode Moto GP and as kid I was as happy as anything on the back of dads super bikes. Having never rode a bike myself and always feeling like it was quite a male dominated space, I’m super excited about having a lesson with the ladies at Camp VC.
What are you looking forward to most at CAMP VC?
Helping women access their creative gifts and explore hidden parts of their personalties as well as giving them a beautiful place to chill and recharge.
We're so excited to have you & your team onsite at this years event! What have you got in store for us for this onsite?
Warning!!! This isn’t your standard wellness area. I am collaborating with some fierce females to offer Tarot readings, Reiki, Massage, Vision Boarding and Energy Healing Workshops with a dash of Moon Manifestation thrown in for good measure.
Wheres your dream place to practice yoga in the world?
Outdoors, by the water or in a forest.
Final word from The Curious?
Stop hiding aspects of your personality. The world needs every part of you. You are amazing, you are worthy, you are perfect. Stay Curious.
